Ruth turned 14 days old this morning! Hard to believe it’s been that long—since she was born we’ve visited her every 6 hours. That’s 56 trips to the NICU. Every time we’ve talked with her, touched her, sung to her, and prayed over her.
Ruth came off her hydrocortisone today, the last drug we administered to maintain her blood pressure. She’s done very well thus far, though like we expected she’s relying a little more on the ventilator. We’re taking her off hydrocortisone in preparation for Ibuprofen tomorrow, which we’re praying will close her heart valve PDA. We’re also praying that her stomach will handle all of this—her middle is a little bloated and is giving us some concerns already. Fortunately we serve a merciful God, and He has wrought many miracles thus far. Thank you for your prayers.
Also, keep Hannah in your prayers as she recovers from the c-section and begins to ache all the more because she can’t hold her baby. It’ll be a happy day for us when that happens.
Interesting fact: I just confirmed with our nurse this morning that if they believed us that she was 19 weeks and if her size checked out, they most likely wouldn’t have even tried to save her.
